FLO-TECH O & P Systems, Inc. once again introduces a new level of postoperative amputee prosthetic rehabilitation.

The (transtibial) SOFTIE and SOFTIE-TF (for Transfemoral amputees) addresses two concerns: 1) vascular surgeon(s) who fear the application of any prosthetic socket for their dysvascular patients, and 2) prosthetists who see the cost of maintaining a prefabricated postoperative socket, or system, inventory as prohibitive.

First: vascular surgeon(s) welcome the use of our SOFTIE and SOFTIE-TF because the sockets are soft, non constricting (when protocol is followed) and easy to remove at any time to address wound concerns, it will protect the incision area from micro tears which occur as the patient repositions him/herself in bed and, finally, because the cost is low.

Second: prosthetist value the SOFTIE and SOFTIE-TF because the costs of maintaining an inventory of SOFTIE™ and SOFTIE-TF sockets is very reasonable and having an inventory of SOFTIE™ and SOFTIE-TF™ sockets allows prosthetists to fit any patient at a moments notice. In many cases hospitals are unwilling or unable to pay for expensive immediate postoperative casts or pre-fabricated prosthetic sockets or systems.

The SOFTIE & SOFTIE-TF will fit virtually any size and thus one left and one right SOFTIE and one SOFTIE-TF is minimal and economical stock for immediate care to GET THE PATIENT.

Once the patient has been fit with a SOFTIE or SOFTIE-TF the Prosthetist is able to measure and order the appropriate APOPPS to be applied when the patient is ready, physically and financially, to progress to an ambulatory pre-fabricated socket or system.
